Lifeguards

The primary responsibility of the Lifeguard staff is to be the safeguard of all members and guests at RTSC. You are tasked with upholding and enforcing all rules applicable to the pool, deck and grounds to maintain order and prevent accidents in and out of the water.  If required you will rescue swimmers in distress, administer first aid and lifesaving measures as needed.  Lifeguards are also involved in guarding swim team practices/meets and providing swim lessons during the season.  Most swim team practices and swim lessons take place prior to open membership hours, while some evening hours will be required.

  • Primary Duties

    • Be attentive, and use learned prevention strategies to provide a safe swim environment by upholding and enforcing all RTSC rules and regulations
    • Apply basic first aid for members, guests and staff
    • Interacting with RTSC members, guests, and other staff professionally and courteously.
    • Familiarize themselves with RTSC Rules & Regulations and be able to clearly and effectively communicate to members and guests
    • Arriving to work on time and dressed appropriately including required pack, whistle and towel.
    • Adhere to cleaning procedures of RTSC pool, deck, bathrooms, pavilions and grounds, including the parking lot.
    • Check-in members and guests in a timely manner
  • Other Duties Between Shifts

    • Pick up any litter.
    • Check the swings and play area to make sure nothing is broken or unusual.
    • Check the bottom of the pool.
    • Report any safety concerns to the manager immediately.
    • Monitor bathroom for supplies and cleanliness; replenish supplies if needed.
    • Perform tasks assigned by the pool manager or board members.
  • Entrance Activities

    • Wear your nametag and introduce yourself by name and welcome guests to RTSC
    • Check-in members and guests using your Membersplash portal ID. Update family photos in the account portal if they are missing.
    • Insure guests are accompanied by a member.
    • Collect guest fees and log guest name and phone number/email address
